J.E.B. Stuart Bowie Knife
Born in Patrick County, Virginia in February 1833, James Ewell Brown "JEB" Stuart graduated from West Point and served at Fort Leavenworth. When the Civil War began in 1861, Stuart joined the Confederate Army as Colonel of the 1st Virginia Cavalry. As one of Lee's most trusted officers, Stuart's reputation grew, and he was eventually given command of the 2nd Corps after Stonewall Jackson and A.P.Hill were injured. JEB Stuart was wounded on May 11, 1864 and died the next day. Meticulously designed by American Mint - in conjunction with The National Civil War Museum - for the Sesquicentennial of the Civil War, this magnificent bowie knife was created from a single piece of tempered 420 stainless steel. The hand-polished blade features a laser-etched portrait of Confederate General JamesEwell Brown "J.E.B.” Stuart with the names of the battles he fought. The beautiful hardwood handle is accented with brass pins and inlaid with a silver plated nameplate that has been laser-etched withStuart's signature. The guard and pommel is plated in polished silver and engraved with designs from an original American Civil War officer's sword.
