Nearly two years after the British surrendered at Yorktowne, the signing of the Treaty of Paris on September 3, 1783, officially ended the Revolutionary War between Great Britain and the United States. Although peace talks between David Hartley of Great Britain and the American Peace Commissioners Benjamin Franklin, John Jay, and John Adams began in Paris on April 12, 1782, it took well over a year for a resolution to be reached. This historic document officially recognized the United States of America as an independent nation and required Britain to remove all of its military from the new nation. The treaty also established borders for the United States, including all land between the Great Lakes in the north to Florida in the south, and from the Atlantic Ocean to the Mississippi River.Available exclusively from American Mint, this solid 14k gold coin commemorates the 250th Anniversary of the Treaty of Paris that ended America's fight for independence. The coin's obverse featuresa highly detailed engraving of the signing of the treaty along with a reproduction of the document's signatures with wax seals. Minted to the highest quality "Proof standard, this magnificent coin comes in its own protective capsule to preserve it for generations to come!
