P.G.T. Beauregard Prestige Edition Bowie Knife

Responsible for firing on Fort Sumter, the opening salvo of the Civil War, and helping to promote the use of the Confederate battle flag, Pierre Beauregard served continuously in the Confederate Army in every major theater of the war. By late 1864, Bearegard was placed in command of the Department of the West but was unable to halt General William T. Sherman's devastating "March to the Sea." Along with Joseph Johnston, Beauregard surrendered the last major portion of the Confederate Army in April 1865.

Meticulously designed by American Mint - in conjunction with The National Civil War Museum - for the Sesquicentennial of the Civil War, this magnificent bowie knife was created from a single piece of tempered 420 stainless steel. The hand-polished blade features a gold-tone finish and is laser-etched with a portrait of Confederate General P.G.T. Beauregard along with the names of the battles he fought. The silver-plated handle has classic wooden grips inlaid with a gold tone plaque featuring Beauregard's signature. The 24k gold-layered Sesquicentennial medallion is set into the silver-plated pommel. This AMERICAN MINT EXCLUSIVE bowie knife is an impressive 12.5" in length and comes in a custom collector's box.
