Abraham Lincoln Presidential Stamp Commemorative Coin
The first stamp to honor President Abraham Lincoln was issued in 1869, just one year after his tragic assassination. The 90¢ Lincoln stamp was part of the 1869 Pictorial Issue stamp series, which utilized two-color printing for the first time in the history of the U.S. Postal Service. The stamp had originally received harsh criticism for its often out-of-register printing and its unconventional square shape. As time went on, experts and collectors alike began to praise these historic stamps. A stamp collector's dream, a previously lost Lincoln 1869 Pictorial Issue stamp was recently rediscovered. Some experts believe it could sell for as much as $1 million!
