The story of America`s most-collected coin began in the mid 1800s. Congress bowed to political pressure from the silver mining
industry and agreed to purchase between $2 and $4 Million worth of American-mined silver every month for coinage. As a result
of this controversial legislation, one of the greatest coins in our nation`s history — the Morgan Silver Dollar — was born.
Named after their designer, George T. Morgan, Morgan Dollars were first struck in 1878 and were primarily minted at the newly
opened San Francisco Mint. These big, beautiful silver dollars were circulated mainly in the West.
In 1904, with the silver supply now depleted, the Morgan Dollar was "retired." But, in a surprising twist, it was "un-retired" in 1921 for a special one-year minting. The Morgan Dollar continues to be America`s most-collected coin and the San Francisco Morgans are among the most coveted of the entire series.
Thats why we`ve created this exclusive 28-piece set of solid silver replicas. This limited-edition set includes every year of the
Morgan Dollar that carries the popular "S" mint mark, from 1878-1921. All 28 replicas are presented together in a pair of specially designed Premium Collector`s Boxes.
