the treasured carson city morgan dollar
The Morgan Silver Dollar is arguably the most collected coin series ever
produced by the U.S. Mint. Minted from 1878 to 1904, and again in 1921,
a total of more than 6.5 million Morgans were produced. But those minted
at the branch facility in Carson City, Nevada, account for less than 2% of that
total. Because mintages at Carson City were the lowest of the series, and they were only issued from 1878 to 1885 and 1889 to 1893, Morgans carrying the "CC" mint mark are the most coveted subset of Morgan dollar series.
