Leonardo da Vinci`s Salvator Mundi, "Savior of the World"
Attributed to master artist Leonardo da Vinci, Salvator Mundi depicts Christ in blue a Renaissance-style dress and long curly hair. With his right hand, Christ is making the sign of the cross, while the left hand holds a crystal orb, which represents his role as Savior of the World. Over hundreds of years, many copies have been made of this important piece, but the original was believed to have been lost some time around the 17th century. In the early 2000s, however, careful restoration of a badly repainted copy revealed Leonardo`s masterful techniques underneath, proving it to be the original. In 2017, Christie`s Auction House sold this incredible masterpiece for $450.3 Million, the highest price ever paid for a single painting
