Product description
In the summer of 1787, the Constitutional Convention convened in Philadelphia to draft and ratify the U.S. Constitution, the document that would become the very basis of the young nation’s system of government. At that time, the U.S. Government existed under the Articles of Confederation, which was drafted before the Revolutionary War and gave the federal government little real authority. However, many across the country felt that there should be no strong centralized government, fearing too much federal authority would destroy individual rights and freedoms.
To address this important issue, the Bill of Rights was drafted and ratified in 1791. These first 10 amendments to the Constitution established limits to the powers of the federal government and protected the individual rights of all citizens.

To celebrate the 225th Anniversary of the U.S. Constitution’s ratification, American Mint proudly presents this exclusive 24k gold-layered coin honoring the Bill of Rights. Expertly engraved on the coin’s obverse is an allegorical image of Miss Liberty setting off a Revolutionary War-era cannon, representing the Second Amendment. Minted to the highest quality “Proof ” standard, this magnificent coin comes in its own protective capsule to preserve it for generations to come!
