- Product description
Although he would eventually become the 34th U.S. President, Dwight D. Eisenhower spent the bulk of his career in the U.S. Army. A West Point graduate, Eisenhower played an integral role in creating war plans to defeat Germany and Japan during World War II. Eisenhower carried out the Normandy D-Day landings, or "Operation Overlord" in June of 1944. Before the battle, he delivered a speech to inspire the troops. Eisenhower is just one of five presidents to have never held elected office prior to serving as president.
