Product description
A collaboration between the British and French airline industries, the Concorde was the world’s first supersonic passenger plane. With a top speed of 1,450 m.p.h. (Mach 2.2), it could travel from Paris to New York City in just over 3 hours. First flown on March 2, 1969, the Concorde went into full-service in 1976 and continued ferrying passengers at supersonic speed for 27 years. Only 20 of these historic aircrafts were ever built. This iconic aircraft was retired in 2003, ending – at least for now – the era of supersonic commercial air travel.

An AMERICAN MINT exclusive, this exquisite coin is specially minted in celebration of the 40th Anniversary of the Concorde’s maiden flight. Layered in brilliant 24k gold, it features a full-color image of this legendary supersonic airliner. Minted to the highest quality “Proof ” standard, this coin is limited to only 9,999 complete collections worldwide and comes in its own protective capsule to preserve it for generations to come – a true collector’s item.
